I come from a family of 'service' personnel, I therefore take Memorial Day very seriously, as a day that commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service.
I still own my forefather's civil war sword, as well as other momentos of my family's service protecting this great experiment known as the United States of America.
As warned by Dwight D. Eisenhower on January 17th 1961, this patriotic service has been manipulated into a mechanism for private gain, with total disregard for human life and sacrifice.
I retch when I see our chosen and elected representatives spew their hypocritical rhetoric at wreath laying ceremonies and commemorative services on this day.
Vice President Biden even has the audacity to suggest helping families of our service men and women by mowing their lawn as a sign of gratitude.
There isn't much I can do against such egregious insults, but I can recommend we all do our part to ensure the America our brothers and sisters will (hopefully soon) return to, is one that they still recognize.
